Preparing For Reintegration In The Home Country
Policy relating to underage refugees in the Netherlands has been changed since 1 April 2001. The refugees who arrived in the country after 2001 are expected to return to their country of origin when they come of age, assuming their countries have been declared “safe”.
The Albeda College in Rotterdam offers these youths a basic training as electrician or computer operator in preparation for their repatriation.
Counselling sessions are also offered to help them plan their futures. 18 year old Helio, originally from Angola reveals his plans for the future.
